LEBANON MUNICIPAL JAIL HISTORY

2009

The Lebanon Municipal Jail was built, with anticipation of being fully staffed with Correction Officers

2009 to 2023

The responsibility of staffing the jail fell upon Patrol Officers. This limited the Patrol functions, taking officers off the street leading to decreased officer safety. Without assigned Correction Officers, the City of Lebanon assumed high risk and potential liability when offenders were kept in the jail.

2023

The decision to close jail operations was made. This was due to limited staffing, liability concerns, Oregon Revised Statutes (ORS), and Citycounty Insurance Services (CIS) Mandatory Operating Requirements
